A Clinical Study of Colorectal Cancer

Abstract
This is a study of 43 cases of colon cancer who were treated at the Dept, of Surgery, Jeonbug National University Hospital from Mar, 1976 to Mar, 1980.
The results as follow :
1. The ratio between male and female was 1.2 : 1 and age incidence was most prevalent in 6th decades, comprising 30 of cases.
2. Location of turr:cr was most frequent in the rectum (55.8%), sigmcid colon (11.6%) being next.
3. The most frequent symtom was bloody tarry stool (55`8%) followed by bowel habit change (53,9%), abdominal pain (44.1%), and other.
4. 51.2% of the patients came to hospital within 3 months after onset of symptoms.
5. The most prevalent blood group was type A (46,5%).
6. According to Dukes¢¥classificatior, ffe tumors were stage A in 7.7%, stage B1, 26.990, stage B2, 19.3%, stage C1, 11.5%, and stage C2, 34.6%
7. Colostomy was the most fregquent operation used in 33.8% and Miles¢¥operat.ion was performed in 25.60% of cases.
8. The most common type of colorectal cancer was adenocarcir_oma (88,4%).
9. Complications developed in 30.1% of cases, and the most common one was wound infection (11.6%). Operative mortality was zero.
10. Dietary habit of patients was not specific.
